Reproductive and (neuro)developmental toxicology
State–of-the-art in vivo and in vitro test methods in conventional (rodent, rabbit) and new (zebrafish) species are ready for use in testing your products for reproductive and (neuro)developmental safety according to current regulatory requirements for industrial chemicals and agrochemicals (e.g. REACH, OECD, OPPTS).
We continually seek alternative models and methods in aiming for a substantial reduction in animal use and costs in development of your products. Recently, we introduced the zebrafish as non-mammalian whole organism that could bridge gaps between in vitro cell systems and complex studies in mammals. We obtain further reduction and refinement by incorporating new or improved immunotoxicological, neurobehavioral and neuropathological endpoints in an extended one-generation study (EOGRTS). In cooperation with TNO we are developing grouping and read-across methods using stem-cells and oocytes. Other special expertise areas include advanced neuropathology (linear morphometry/stereology), imaging (microPET, MRI), neurophysiology (EEG, telemetry),and specialised immunopathology.
Customised services
We offer both standard regulatory testing and custom-made (if possible non-testing) solutions in reproductive and (neuro)developmental toxicology. Standard protocols compliant with current guidelines (OECD, US EPA, US FDA, ICH, EMEA) are available to assess effects on fertility, hormone levels, reproduction, pre and postnatal development, neurotoxicity and neurodevelopment and immunodevelopment. We also support customisation of protocols and provide regulatory guidance.
